FAQ
How is artwork packed and delivered to ensure it is well protected?
As an additional service we can provide a conditioning report. This is a method of record keeping that documents the state of an object before it is packaged and again after it has arrived. This ensures that the condition or state of an object has not changed. This service is not necessary for all projects but is important for museums, international deliveries, high value auction item, estate planning, etc.
We take our material choices seriously. We use durable archival package materials with low VOC. As needed, or as requested we will include a water barrier and insulation as extra protection.
What type of items do you pack and ship?
We can pack and ship just about anything! We recently crated a marble sculpture that weighed 15,000 pounds. If an object is too big for our company vehicles we coordinate with carrier companies.
How do I chose between the various crate/packing options?
It really depends upon what the object is and if you want to hold onto the packing after delivery. Not all crates are created equal and be careful as the term “museum quality” is loosely used in the industry. If you are not sure, let’s talk and we will find a solution that works best for you.
If I am local, can I pick up/drop off my items?
Of course! We enjoy working with the specific needs of each client. Local picks up/drop offs eliminate a delivery charge and reduce the overall project cost.
If my project requires a pick up/drop off, will it occur at a specific time or within a window?
We notify clients within 48-24 hours and again 30 minutes before the delivery arrives. If requested, we can provide up-to-date GPS tracking.
Are you insured?
We are fully covered for cargo and liability insurance for door to door and for onsite incidentals. Additional rider insurance can be purchased depend upon the specific project needs.
Are you licensed for international crating and shipping?
We are not ISPM 15 certified, however our international crates are constructed entirely out of plywood or MDO to meet international regulations. This allows us to keep costs down for our clients. We work with international brokers to provide custom forms, and arrange air or sea fright shipping abroad. DUO is TSA certified to make pickup and delivers to DTW.
How and when do I pay my invoice?
We may request a deposit depending upon the project. Payment is due upon the completion of the job and we accept check, card and ACH.
I work at an educational institution, do you offer workshops?
Yes! We have provided packaging workshops and are happy to share our knowledge.
